"Escape Artist" is a story that follows, Amatera, a man who is lost in an ever changing mental state. His story begins at a breaking point for change, mislead by a corrupt leader, resulting in a devastating loss. Cast out to sea, Amatera finds himself captive by a Siren's song. With the help of Ninjen (Garret Rapp) and Ajna (Jonny Craig), our hero is able to heal and plan an overtaking of the Siren's ship in order to find restitution.

"Reverie" is a story, narrated by Katsuben (Kurt Travis), that follows a boy named Tsukuyo (Andrew Brittingham), through his battle with the evil that has consumed his past, present, and his future. In this story, he is constantly reminded of the words his mother, Tennin ( Darina Kaytukova),  said in her last hours, which give him the strength to overcome. Tsukuyo is accompanied on his journey by Ninjen (Garret Rapp); and Mizuchi (Aaron Gillespie); and Susanoto (Sam Kohl); who are from Songkran. Songkran is a city underwater that becomes home for Tsukuyo where Ninjen, Mizuchi , and Susanoto help him to find his strength to avenge his birth place. "Reverie" is explained in the music and lyrics alike.

Thank you for listening to our story; and for being a part of a reverie.

BoyBoy Becomes Hero is a post-hardcore outfit from Michigan created by Andrew Brittingham (multi-instrumentalist, vocalist) that delivers thrashing anthems and melodic breakdowns. Boy Becomes Hero, with a partnership with To Write Love On Her Arms, is dedicated to creating a musical experience across the post-hardcore scene while raising awareness for depression, self-harm, addiction and suicide.

The band’s 2019 debut LP Reverie, mixed and mastered by Kris Crummett (Sleeping with Sirens, Dance Gavin Dance, Closure in Moscow, Issues) has been noted by Johnny Minardi (Roadrunner Records & Fueled by Ramen) as “a solid groove that hits hard right off the bat.” Reverie was written as a concept album, narrated by Katsuben (Kurt Travis), that follows a boy named Tsukuyo (Andrew Brittingham), through his battle with the evil that has consumed his past, present, and his future. In this story, he is constantly reminded of the words his mother, Tennin (Ranadi), said in her last hours, which give him the strength to overcome. Tsukuyo is accompanied on his journey by Ninjen (Garret Rapp), Mizuchi (Aaron Gillespie), and Susanoto (Sam Kohl) who are from Songkran, a city underwater that becomes home for Tsukuyo, where Ninjen, Mizuchi, and Susanoto help him to find his strength to avenge the loss of his home and people.

The upcoming sophomore album, Escape Artist, is a horror album serving as a prelude to “Reverie”; furthering its concept. Reprising his role with even more to show, Garret Rapp makes his return as Ninjen. Mixed and Mastered by Andreas Magnusson (Oh, Sleeper, Haste the Day, The Black Dahlia Murder) the album takes a much darker side compared to its freshman counterpart with Jonathan Gearing (The Devil Wears Prada) presenting a much deeper emotional space with programming and keys.

The story follows Amatera (Andrew Brittingham) as he struggles with toxic relationships, mistakes he will make and has made, and searches for Restitution, by creating a life of atonement. Ninjen (Garret Rapp) and Ajna (Jonny Craig) help our anti-hero, while captive upon a siren’s ship, find positivity and a healthy mental state in order to let go of the past and focus on the present and the future. Escape Artist’s themes of depression, self-harm, and mental health provide a deep dive for listeners as the heroes in the story make their way from darkness back to light.
